Vision software company Organic Motion recently launched version 2.0 of its marker-free motion capture platform OpenStage, which allows animators to track and record performances without the need for body suits or spherical white markers. Using a combination of proprietary software and high-speed color cameras, OpenStage serves as a simpler alternative to the more standard methods of performance capture. With this latest release, OpenStage will now be able to track basic props, and will now have the ability to track multiple actors at once. In addition, the platform will sport increased accuracy and will no longer require a backdrop to function. "We are excited to unleash the power of our new computer vision software -- taking away the backdrop, tracking multiple actors using props in larger spaces, all of course with no markers at all," says Organic Motion CEO Andrew Tschesnok. "OpenStage is our answer to the thousands of industry people who have requested more from our commercial systems," he continues. Organic Motion says it will debut the new technology at this week's SIGGRAPH 2011.
