Eidos Montreal narrative director Mary DeMarle has joined BioWare to work on the next entry in the Mass Effect franchise.

BioWare project director Mike Gamble confirmed the news and explained DeMarle will be joining the Mass Effect team as senior narrative director.

DeMarle spent almost 15 years at Eidos Montreal and most recently led the writing team on Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy as exectutive narrative director. Prior to that, she helped create the underlying story for Deus Ex: Human Revolution

The veteran scribe also spent five years working at Ubisoft, initially joining the French publisher as a contract game writer before taking on the role of narrative game designer.

DeMarle leaves Eidos Montreal shortly after Square Enix sold the studio and key franchises such as Deus Ex and Tomb Raider to Embracer Group for $300 million.
