Electronic Arts and software maker Autodesk (3ds Max, Maya) are bringing a new design workshop to students at Great Northern Way Campus in Vancouver. The two-day workshop, designed for students in the master for digital media program, is meant to prepare students to plan and manage digital media projects, including multi-player online games and digital social networks. Students will also use their time in the workshop to map out their semester-long digital media projects, according to a recent press release. Glenn Entis, senior vice president at Electronic Arts, and Autodesk Fellow Tom Wujec developed the curriculum and will teach the two-day seminar. “I'm very excited about leading this workshop,” Glenn Entis said. “There’s a clear need for better planning of digital media projects, particularly with the rapid pace of technological change. The right pre-production planning can make or break a project." “Our goal is to shape the next-generation of digital media leaders,” said Dr. Gerri Sinclair, executive director of the master for digital media program. “We're collaborating with industry luminaries such as Electronic Arts and Autodesk, so that the students can benefit from their forward thinking. The project design workshop will give students the tools they need to manage real-world digital media projects.” Housed in the Centre for Digital Media at Great Northern Way Campus, the master for digital media program is a 20-month course and includes a paid summer internship.
