Koji Igarashi announced via Kickstarter that Rocket League and Virginia publisher 505 Games will be stepping in to publish his upcoming crowdfunded game Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night. The Castlevainia-inspired 2D action platformer raised $5.5 million in its Kickstarter campaign last year and is one of the most successful video game projects to be funded on the site to-date.

Igarashi explained that the decision to work with 505 Games arose from a desire to deliver Bloodstained to as large of an audience as possible. “Although we have started this project through Kickstarter, we wanted more people to play now that we are in full production. However, we believe this isn’t possible with our power alone.”

This news comes just a month after Igarashi delayed the game's release to early 2018 in an effort to ensure Bloodstained will be "done right the first time."
