TRIVIUM’S MATT HEAFY SUPPORTS REMNANT II DLC WITH FULL RELEASE OF HIS SONG ‘WIELDER OF THE PLAGUE’

Amsterdam, Netherlands — November 13, 2023 - Gearbox Publishing and Gunfire Games are excited to announce today that Trivium vocalist and guitarist Matthew Kiichi Heafy has released the full version of his song, ‘Wielder of the Plague’ for REMNANT II. Heafy wrote and recorded the track in support of REMNANT II and the soon-to-be released DLC The Awakened King.
 

First teased as a special bespoke edit of the song in the game’s EU Accolades Trailer earlier this year, the song has been released in full today, the day before REMNANT II’s highly anticipated first DLC, The Awakened King, launches on November 14.
 

The full version of ‘Wielder of the Plague’ is also accompanied by a bespoke REMNANT II music video.

In support of the new track, Heafy - an avid streamer in his own right - will be joining the much-loved UK streaming duo TwoAngryGamers for a REMNANT II DLC livestream between 3PM and 4PM GMT (10AM and 11AM ET) on November 14. Heafy will also be raffling a REMNANT II swag kit on his social channels, as well as an exclusive REMNANT II x Matt Heafy collaboration shirt.
 

“Video games and video game music have been a part of my life since I was 5 years old.” said Matt Heafy. ”At 5, I beat my first video game (Super Mario Bros.) and my journey went to RPGs like Final Fantasy, and then FPSs like Doom. The first time I heard the music in Doom (I was 11) - I knew someday I wanted to make music like this in video games. I didn’t even know about metal or that the music in that game was metal.
 

Fast forward to 2023. I am so excited - honored - privileged - and thankful to say I’ve been asked to compose some music inspired by REMNANT II for the promotion of the game. I can’t wait for you to hear this.”
 

About Matthew Kiichi Heafy/Trivium: 

Matthew Kiichi Heafy is a Japanese American musician, best known as the guitarist and lead vocalist for the Grammy nominated heavy metal band Trivium. He is an avid gamer, practitioner of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and food connoisseur. Matt streams daily on his Twitch channel “matthewkheafy” playing video games, doing guitar clinics, vocal warmups and showcasing his Brazilian jiu-jitsu classes.
