PRESS RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Finland-based, indie games studio, Empires Not Vampires, has raised $1million to develop its latest game, Paradise Tycoon, a social building and crafting, multiplayer game, built on blockchain technology. In their innovative new model, the Paradise Tycoon game assets (NFTs) are completely in blockchain. This includes not only the attributes but also the assets’ entire visual presence, and a creative commons license to allow digital ownership beyond the game and the control of the developers. The seed round drew investment from a range of angel investors and VC funds including Shima Capital,Zee Prime Capital, Fomocraft Ventures and FireX Capital.

Paradise Tycoon is in public Alpha stage and available for browser and android devices, with plans for a global launch towards the end of the year. Empires Not Vampires are launching a campaign to give free in-game assets (NFTs) to their community and Alpha players. These can be used immediately in the game and will be minted in the second week of March. Visit https://paradisetycoon.com/ for more details.

Empires Not Vampires are one of a small number of indie games studios moving into the blockchain space, driving significant improvements in quality and standards. Paradise Tycoon is the developers’ first multiplayer blockchain game, following previous Tycoon Builder games such as Garage Empire, and promises to deliver deep layers of social events and competition. The Empires team approach blockchain games with a Free-To-Play mindset. The majority of the studio’s initial digital collectibles and in-game assets (NFTs) will be given for free or sold for a reasonable price comparable to traditional in-app purchases.

Co-Founder Timo Juuti revealed, “We never felt comfortable with the idea of pricing digital collectibles (NFTs) at hundreds or even thousands of dollars. As a (formerly) traditional games studio, it’s easier to position ourselves in blockchain space now that huge hype is gone.”

He continued, “Blockchain technology offers us massive freedom in game design. We are putting in-game assets into blockchain as NFTs with a Creative Commons license for developers to use in their games, so they are available for anyone and not controlled by us; this is real digital ownership. This creates some exciting future scenarios and new ways to build IPs. It remains uncertain how blockchain games will evolve, but what is certain is that we have only scratched the surface of their potential.“

Empires Not Vampires was established in 2017 and has launched successful games with millions of downloads including Garage Empire, a game developed in cooperation with Fingersoft. Co-Founder / CEO Harri Karpinen founded his first games company in 2006, going on to work with the Hill Climb Racing franchise (over 2 billion players) as Fingersoft Marketing Director. Co-Founder / COO Timo Juuti comes from a digital entertainment background and also cofounded electronic music label Youth Control. Bringing this knowledge to Empires Not Vampires he then spearheaded the high-profile launch of MIXMSTR - the world’s first mobile-only DJ game.

With this round of funding secured, the Empires team is focused on building a great game and see blockchain technology as an advantage to smaller, indie studios that can consistently utilise it in new ways. They see a point in the near future where the technology will be invisible and in the background, just like current backend solutions.
