Volutian Design | In case you missed it, the episodic, multi-season visual novel experience Gods of the Twilight has a playable demo as part of Steam Next Fest, taking place now until October 16th.
Telling the story of two reincarnated deities discovering they’re more than human while facing an approaching Ragnarök, you'll follow the stories of dual protagonists Althea and Farkas. The two navigate a dystopian and ecologically devastated world during near-apocalyptic times, meeting friends, foes, and lovers (if you choose). Among the other gods, they'll face the monsters and criminals that inhabit the city-ship of New Reykjavík and beyond.
Showcased in the above trailer, Gods of the Twilight boasts a star-studded voice cast whose talents aid in telling the rich story of two reincarnated Norse gods facing a modern apocalypse. Kelsey Jaffer, known for their work in Genshin Impact and The First Slam Dunk (2022), lends her voice as Althea, while Atli Óskar Fjalarsson, an accomplished actor with nominations from the Icelandic Edda Academy Award and winner of the prestigious Berlinale European Shooting Stars Award, embodies the voice of Farkas.
The cast also includes Amina Koroma (Baldur’s Gate 3), Ellis Knight (SMITE, Lie of Caelum), Ian Russell (RWBY: Arrowfell, Warhammer 40,000: Inquisitor - Prophecy), and a wider, supremely talented group who, through fully voice-acted dialogue, chronicle the heartful journey of two young people discovering that they're more than human in a tech-fueled world where magic has mostly been forgotten.
Gods of the Twilight sees players cultivate diverse relationships through captivating narratives and thought-provoking decisions as they advance through the story. Players will decide whether to build friendships, confront rivals, or even foster romantic connections, including between the main characters. Whether as a team or independently, Althea and Farkas will need to navigate an intricate web of possible allies and foes, which include gods, governmental entities, influential corporations, and underworld syndicates.
Key Features of Gods of the Twilight Include:
Love, Loss, or None at All: Your choices determine the protagonists' relationships with their companions and one another, including the possibility of polyamory, and each character has romance options of multiple genders
No ‘Routes,’ Just ‘Choices’: An episodic story where choices carry over between chapters and seasons, Gods of the Twilight features a range of branching paths, including independent choices tracking overlapping consequences for unique endings
Say it with Your Chest: All dialogue is fully voice-acted, with talent including Amina Koroma (Baldur’s Gate 3), Kelsey Jaffer (Genshin Impact), Atli Óskar Fjalarsson (The Midnight Sky (2020)), and Ellis Knight (SMITE)
Gods of the Twilight will have a playable demo as part of Steam Next Fest and will launch its first five chapters in Steam Early Access for Windows PC, Mac, and Linux on November 14, 2023. A demo is currently available on Steam and Itch.io.
