The Wall Street Transcript, a financial information publisher, will be hosting a gaming economy conference called Positioning for Profitability in the Video Game Economy. Using statistics on Halo 2's first-day sales and the gaming industry's yearly revenue compared to the film industry as an enticement, the conference is meant to help companies exploit game-related sources of revenue to the fullest. Companies including Namco, Ubisoft, and AOL Games will present talks on maximizing gaming profits. The subjects will range from the power of licensing to drive sales, to supplementing revenue through product placement, to the potential of new platforms such as next-generation consoles and mobile games. The conference will be held on February 24th, 2005, at the Harvard Club in New York City from 8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. Those interested in attending can register at the official conference website.
