Ubisoft Announces Brazilian Development House

Ubisoft's new Brazilian development house will be the publisher's twentieth studio worldwide as well as its first on the continent of South America, with plans to focus on family games for consoles.
Publisher Ubisoft plans to expand its considerable development resources by forming a studio in San Paolo, Brazil, the company has announced. When it opens in late July, the dev house will be Ubisoft's twentieth studio worldwide and its first in South America. The company plans to kick off operations with a team of 20, to expand to 200 within four years. Its focus will be family games for portable and home console platforms. The studio, whose name was unspecified, will be helmed by Bertrand Chaverot, who has served in the country before on Ubisoft's sales team, and is coming directly from managing external development for EMEA regions. Said Ubisoft executive worldwide studios director Christine Burgess-Quemard, "The cultural richness of Sao Paulo, coupled with its leading university network will bring a unique set of fresh talent to Ubisoft's international development community. We look forward to tapping into the exceptional talent in South America in order to continue our global expansion."
