Trilogy Studios announced its Firefly platform, an MMO technology framework for developing social and casual multiplayer online games, featuring support for Playspan's digital goods monetization solutions.
The new platform is designed to integrated the features of a traditional massively multiplayer online game into a small footprint allowing "nearly instantaneous access to the game through a web browser." Firefly supports various gameplay elements like achievements, quests, skills, leveling, item-collection, instances, co-op activities and other features.
Trilogy has also included social networking features like integrated email, chat, and messaging -- users can even generate content in game and add it to their profiles. The platform allows developers to "summon players across multiple servers for on-demand player interaction", track user interaction, and make friend recommendations for compatible players, too.
Firefly's integrated monetization program offers subscriptions, sponsorships, microtransactions and advertising. The platform takes advantage of of UltimatePay, PlaySpan's service providing more than 85 global payment options such as credit cards, PayPal, mobile, cash-based methods, and its Ultimate Game Card.
The partnership with PlaySpan also promises a developer analytics console, consolidated reporting, and monthly settlement for all payment methods to Trilogy and its clients. With this deal, PlaySpan will act as the merchant of record on behalf of all Trilogy partners that use the Firefly platform.
"We’ve spent the past five years building up an expertise in social and casual games, and now have a complete platform in Firefly to quickly deliver massive, immersive games for leading content publishers," says Trilogy Studios CEO Michael Pole.
He adds, "Together with PlaySpan, we have a full service platform that works universally with third party developer tools and delivers top notch browser-based gameplay and monetization opportunities."
