Ahead of NPD's May sales report expected on Thursday, June 14, fantasy video game prediction market simExchange, which aggregates predictions from multiple users of its service, has offered its hardware predictions, calling for the Wii to sell over five times the PlayStation 3.
SimExchange, which aggregates predictions from multiple users of its service, has forecasted the following hardware sales results for last month:
Xbox 360 - 208K units
PlayStation 3 - 80K units
Wii - 393K units
Nintendo DS - 492K units
PlayStation Portable - 176K units
Though still tracked by NPD, the simExchange does not trade contracts on the PS2 or GBA.
Turning to global hardware sales throughout a console's future lifespan, simExchange has forecasted the following results, again giving Wii the edge over both the PS3 and Xbox 360:
Nintendo DS - 105.00 million units
Wii - 99.76 million units
Xbox 360 - 60.00 million units
PSP - 42.87 million units
PS3 - 63.00 million units
The simExchange service, which is free to join and participate in, has also
revealed recent predictions, showing results "relatively more accurate than expert predictions."
The results are compared to forecasts by Wedbush Morgan's Michael Pachter, who has predicted
Wii to outsell PS3 4:1 in NPD's May results.
