Nintendo dominated this week's Japanese console game sales, retaining the top two positions with
Pokemon Heart Gold and
Soul Silver on Nintendo DS followed by
Wii Fit Plus, according to data from tracking firm
Media Create.
During the week that ended October 18, the
Pokemon game sold 164,721 units and
Wii Fit Plus sold 118,167 units, reflecting about a 35,000-unit week-over-week sales drop for both.
There were two debuts this week with the launches of Naughty Dog's
Uncharted 2: Among Thieves on PlayStation 3 at number five, and Clover Studio and Ready at Dawn's Wii port of
Okami at number six -- the latter a full eighteen months after that version of the game released in North America.
Kicked off the list were Namco Bandai's
Macross Ultimate Frontier for PSP and Level 5 and Square Enix's
Dragon Quest IX for Nintendo DS, which dropped respectively from numbers eight and 10 to 16 and 15.
Overall, Nintendo's portable system controlled the biggest share of the top ten, with half of the games being DS titles, although that's one fewer than it scored last week. That bumped the Wii count up to three, and
Uncharted 2's presence gave the PlayStation 3 one title on the chart, at the expense of PSP.
