Acclaim Games earlier this week announced the name of the finalists for its “Project: Top Secret,” a large-scale, user-driven game design contest and development project. The contest is the brainchild of Dave Perry, CEO of a game consulting firm and founder of Shiny Entertainment, who will be the executive producer on the project when it reaches its production stage. One first prize winner is expected to be determined by the end of the month, who will receive a director title credit on the finished game project, to be published by Acclaim. Of the more than 60,000 participants, the following finalists were named:

  • Kim Bartlett (Reyaughi ) recent graduate of game and simulation programming Robert Brown (Knight1b), 27, single parent of two daughters Adrian Clark (Aclark), IT Jack-of-all-trades from Australia Frédéric Corneau (Elkhorno), 31, illustrator from Quebec Flavio Creasso (Creasso), 33, 3ds Maxinstructor from Brazil Kris Davidsohn (Brokentrain), 24, software engineer Bryan Dong (Klyfarthfa), programmer from San Mateo, Calif. Matthew Edwards (Matt58), lead web developer in the U.K. and Archaeology student Steven Egan (Wordweaver), 22, computer science student Robert Florio (Robflorio) 26, game design graduate, quadriplegic mouth artist, and motivational speaker Joel Haddock (Zargonx), 29, web site manager and writer from Baltimore Christopher Honour (Asurael), student of business in Santiago, Chile Martin Juricek (Mjuricek), 30, computer scientist and father of three Nikita Logachev (Naereus), 21, U.K. resident with a BA in Psychology Yana Malysheva (Yanamal1), 24, self-professed math/computer geek, originally from Russia Michelle Montierth (Tandy), urban planner and the mother of two David Newsome (Slayermon), 32, electronics technician and computer specialist from Germany Rasiel (Rasield), college student from the eastern U.S. Ryan Richards (Ryorev), 26, student at Cal State Long Beach as an illustration major with a minor in Graphic Design David Slauenwhite (AnjelusX), 29, father from Nova Scotia T Michael Vang (Segua), 25, retail associate Mike Zummo (Doran), 34, usability expert from Milwaukee

“Working with these dedicated gamers for nearly a year and a half on this project, I have come to appreciate not only the efforts of literally hundreds of participants out of this huge field, but their range of personalities and individuality,” Rusel DeMaria, assistant director to David Perry, said in a press release. “In helping to pick these finalists, I kept remembering all their persistence, creativity and passion. Limiting the list of finalists was very difficult, as there were always more people I wished I could add.” Currently, there are 10 independent development teams working on the related Top Secret development contest hoping to win a prize worth up to a million dollars, a publishing deal, and a professional development contract going forward.
