Similar to id's own announcement, EA used Apple's WWDC07 to reveal that it would be using TransGaming's Cider engine to bring hit EA franchises to the Mac for the first time, including Harry Potter, Madden, Tiger Woods, Need for Speed and Battlefield 2142. EA CCO Bing Gordon shared the keynote stage with Apple CEO Steve Jobs to make the announcement that the publisher would now be supporting the normally under-populated Mac gaming platform. Thus far, EA has announced four games set to hit the OSX system this summer: Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, Need for Speed Carbon, Command & Conquer 3 Tiberium Wars and Battlefield 2142. Madden NFL 08 and Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 08 will follow concurrent to their console launches later in the year. To help shorten the time between PC and console and subsequent Mac release, EA has announced that it will be using TransGaming's Cider engine, an interpreter that eases the porting process to OSX. Said TransGaming CEO Vikas Gupta, “Traditionally Mac users had to wait to play the latest blockbuster games. We're thrilled that TransGaming's Cider engine will dramatically decrease the time it will take to bring EA's hit portfolio of games to a thirsty Mac market.”
