Distil Interactive, a serious games developer for the training and assessment industries, has announced that the company has received $2.2 million in series A funding from GrowthWorks Commercialization Fund. Distil Interactive specializes in serious games that offer personnel certification and training, and notes that its products are used by large organizations such as Sun Life Financial, Canada Post, CIBC and Abbot. According to the company, this latest round of funding, which is in addition to an earlier $700,000 investment also from GrowthWorks, will be used to support Distil’s ongoing product development. Specifically, officials note that the additional investment will allow Distil to “continue its research and development on automated assessment technologies for personnel certification,” as well as aid in the development and future release of Distil's authoring tool aimed to “provide a platform for certification experts to create their own content.” “Distil is dedicated to leveraging our expertise in the new media industry to develop a technology that will change how training and assessment is conducted across all industries,” said Jonathan Adair, COO, Distil. “It’s not everyday that new media companies secure the interest of venture capitalists. We are excited to be working with GrowthWorks and are thrilled about its continued belief in our business model as a digital games based learning company.”
