Inc. magazine recently ranked 7 Studios on its first-ever “Inc. 5,000” list of the fastest-growing private companies in the country, as an extension of Inc. magazine’s annual Inc. 500 list - the only console game developer on the list.
7 Studios, founded in 1999, is one of the largest independent video game developers in the world, according to the firm, with offices in Los Angeles, Taipei, and Salt Lake City. 7 Studios’ games have generated over $125m in sales.
The company currently has projects in development for the Nintendo Wii, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Nintendo DS, and has previously worked on titles including
Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer,
Shrek The Third,
and Pirates of the Caribbean: The Legend of Jack Sparrow.
The 2007 Inc. 5,000 reported median revenue of $9.4 million and median three-year growth of 140 percent, according to an official statement.
“Independent game developers are a critical driver of growth and innovation in the game industry,” said 7 Studios’ CEO Lewis Peterson. “7 Studios’ growth through the recent game hardware transition is a credit to the talented and passionate people that are now hard at work creating innovative games for the new generation of game consoles.”
