Take-Two subsidiary 2K Sports has revealed new details of its forthcoming All-Pro Football 2K8, including an all-star line-up for its license-free football title pitting John Elway, Jerry Rice and Reggie White against other former pro stars. First announced in February, the new All-Pro Football 2K8 marks the end of a three year football hiatus for 2K Sports, with its first title to compete against EA's exclusive NFL rights. Planned for release this summer on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, few features for the game have been announced apart from its legendary player lineup, which 2K says will be recognizable by their "trademark playing styles." In their first conference call with investors, new Take-Two leaders Strauss Zelnick and Ben Feder noted that returning its flagging 2K Sports division to profitability was a top priority, a particular challenge given that there was a "1000lb gorilla in the business that shall remain nameless." "The way to succeed," said Zelnick at the time, was by "reviewing higher than the 1000lb gorilla's games." Said Visual Concepts president Greg Thomas, "With All-Pro Football 2K8, we're bringing the greatest players in football history back to the game. Imagine an offense featuring John Elway, Thurman Thomas and Jerry Rice going against a defense led by Ronnie Lott, Mike Singletary and Reggie White. By highlighting the signature abilities of the game's greatest legends, we have created a highly customizable and unique football experience tailored for the football fan."
