On Take-Two's second-quarter results call to analysts today, the publisher revealed that the highly-anticipated BioShock 2 will release in Europe on October 30 and in North America on November 3. A post on the Cult of Rapture community site lists the game's platforms as Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC. Take-Two's own documentation, however, continues to list the SKUs as "TBA," leading analysts to question Take-Two execs on whether any exclusivity deals, timed or otherwise, may be in the works. "We're still working out what the right SKUs are and the right timing," said board chairman Strauss Zelnick -- "No, you shouldn't read anything into that," he advised. "We feel real good about the way it's going." Take-Two president Ben Feder also advised audiences to expect the company's major titles will have "some component on the back end" of downloadable content, as adding post-release episodes, as with Grand Theft Auto IV, is becoming a key part of the company's revenue strategy, although the publisher revealed no such plans specific to BioShock 2. The follow-up is in development by 2K Marin, and will again be set in the first game's distinctive underwater city of Rapture. The most obvious change between BioShock and BioShock 2 is that this time around, instead of playing as an anonymous person who happens upon the mysterious city of Rapture, players step into the boots of one of Rapture’s residents, a Big Daddy. Gamasutra recently interviewed executive producer Alyssa Finley on the challenges of following up such a recognizable hit with a team that's largely new to the franchise.
