The latest game from the developer behind Journey is coming to mobile phones later this year, but will make its first stop on Apple devices.

Thatgamecompany’s next title, Sky, was announced on-stage at the Apple event earlier today alongside the news that the upcoming title would be a timed Apple exclusive for the time being.

While the idea of platform exclusive is nothing new to game developers, mobile devices typically see less exclusivity than console and handheld platforms. Sky, which makes use of Apple’s Metal 2 API, is due out for iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV later this year with no details yet announced for Android or the PlayStation 4, where past Thatgamecompany releases have typically found a home.

Sky isn't the first game Apple has welcomed to its event stage with temporary iOS exclusivity, but it is in good company. Super Mario Run saw a similar announcement last year when Nintendo's Shigeru Miyamoto took to the stage to welcome Mario to mobile. While that game initially released on iOS, it later came to Android devices and, according to ThatGameCompany, Sky may see a similar release down the line.
