It turns out that moving boxes makes a lot of noise. Audio director and composer Jeff van Dyck recorded over 14,000 foley audio files for Unpacking with his wife, Angela. In this GDC session, he's going to "unpack" the entire process.

"Unpacking: The Fun Behind the Foley" is a great session taking place at the Game Developers Conference next March. During this session, Jeff will take attendees through the unexpected complexity of producing the foley for the hit game—which has received several nominations at the Independent Games Festival and Game Developers Choice Awards.

Jeff will discuss how they started and where they ended up, sharing what they learned in the process. This includes topics like dealing with material and surface interactions, organizing the audio into Reaper for peak efficiency, and more.

This talk is great for game audio professionals, but is also well-suited for all audio enthusiasts eager to learn about the process.
