Publisher Ziff Davis has announced that 1UP Network editor-in-chief Sam Kennedy has been promoted to editorial director, following the April 25th departure of former director Dan Hsu. Hsu leave after more than a decade with Ziff Davis and various editorial roles through a number of its print and web publications including EGM, Gamers.com and 1UP. The company says Kennedy will contribute to "the execution of the strategic vision for 1UP Network, setting and maintaining the editorial voice of the 1UP Network, and fostering consistency and co-operation among the editorial brands" in his new role. In his accompanying weblog post, Hsu said the departure was for personal reasons, and was in no way related to any other recent Ziff Davis happenings, including decisions to cease publication of the print version of Games for Windows. "The group's in excellent hands with this guy," said Hsu of Kennedy. "I've been working with Sam for years. He's smart, enthusiastic...and not addicted to Achievements, so he should be able to get a lot more done here than I was able to."
