Professional organization WITI (Women in Technology International), has announced that it is sponsoring a professional game team, PMS Clan (Pandora's Mighty Soldiers), the world's largest competitive group of female gamers, to help encourage women to get more interested in technology. PMS Clan was formed in 2002, and the group has three divisions, on Xbox, PlayStation 2, and PC - its elite members compete in a number of FPS pro tour events. Overall, PMS has members numbering more than 400, all of whom are female gamers from around the globe - more information on the Clan is available at its official website. "WITI's mission is to empower women worldwide to achieve unimagined possibilities and transformations through technology, which is similar to what PMS Clan has done and continues to do," said David Leighton, president of WITI. "WITI believes that gaming is yet another great platform to entice girls to get them interested in technology, which is why we are excited to partner with PMS Clan. They are an inspiration to breaking the barriers for girls around the world and providing a safe haven and nurturing environment to showcase talent and competition." I am delighted that WITI has selected us to be their gaming ambassadors," said Amber Dalton, leader and co-founder of PMS Clan. "Their mission to support women mirrors the underlying goal of PMS Clan to assist women in traditionally male-dominated areas of technology fields. On behalf of all the PMS members and our community, we're looking forward to representing WITI in the upcoming 2006 Season." According to the official announcement, PMS Clan will continue making a variety of appearances at professional tournaments and gaming venues beginning in January of 2006, now sponsored by WITI.
