According to CFO Richard Bressler, officials at Viacom are currently investigating new ways to make money from the video games industry, primarily through advertising in games. A drop in young male viewers of prime time television last summer was largely attributed to video games and shortly thereafter Activision signed a deal with Nielsen Entertainment to provide advertisers with better information on the effectiveness of advertising in games. Viacom, meanwhile, tried to sell off parts of Simon & Schuster Interactive last September, saying it considered it nonessential. Officials deny it is considering re-entering the market as a major publisher. Source: Reuters
