Vancouver Film School (VFS), a private post-secondary entertainments arts institution in Canada, has announced the launch of the inaugural Game Design Expo on January 13-14, 2007, in Vancouver, B.C. This two day event targets both those in the industry and those looking to be a part of it. Attendees will get a chance to listen to and meet speakers from gaming companies in North America, tour the VFS Game Design campus and attend sample classes, and meet HR specialists in an open recruitment session. Details of a $25,000 scholarship to the VFS Game Design program, sponsored by Electronic Arts, will be announced during the event. Industry Day on Saturday, January 13 at Vancouver International Film Centre features guest speaker lectures and panel discussions with industry professionals including Electronic Arts' Glenn Entis, Gamelab's Eric Zimmerman, Gas Powered Games' Mike Swanson, and BioWare Corp.'s Kevin Barrett. The Expo is a comprehensive day focused on a variety of topics including: the future of gaming, designing for play, and storytelling and cinematics. Industry Day is open to the gaming industry and the public. Tickets to all the day's events are available at a charge.
