The UK games market has enjoyed another healthy injection of new releases, although the top ten has begun to take on an almost traditional pre-Christmas appearance, with Electronic Arts titles occupying the top three positions. Soccer title FIFA 06 has, unsurprisingly, remained at the number one spot but Tiger Woods 06 has continued its year-on-year improvements in the British market to enter at number two – the best ever debut for the series in the UK. On the back of equivocal reviews and surprisingly low-key marketing, PC god game Black & White 2 has entered only at number six, just above Creative Assembly’s first console action title - Spartan: Total Warrior - at number eight. Perhaps the most notable new release this week, though, is the three Nintendogs titles which are, as ever, identical in content apart from the initial range of puppies available. The Labrador Retriever version has proven to be most popular in the UK, although the game has made a relatively minor impact on the top ten thus far. The second most popular Nintendogs title was Dachshund & Friends at number thirteen, with Chihuahua & Friends at number twenty. Although exact sales figures are not available for any of the titles in the top forty, it is understood that combined sales of the title would have put the game at about number three. Other new entries in the top forty include Ubisoft’s budget price Sniper Elite at number fifteen, with the same publisher’s Brothers in Arms: Earned in Blood coming in at sixteen. This is a significantly poorer result compared to the first game in the series, perhaps due to the time of year and the mere seven months since the first game's release.
