Officials from British government organization the UKTI (UK Trade & Investment) have announced details for a new trade mission to Japan, named Play UK 2007 and scheduled for February 5th to 9th of next year. The UKTI plans to assist British games companies in meeting with Japanese manufacturers, developers, publishers and distribution networks. The government sponsored mission has been organized in conjunction with Nintendo, Sony Computer Entertainment, Capcom and Square Enix and will include visits to Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka and presentations at both company HQs and the British Embassy. Similar trips, including stands at the Tokyo Game Show, have been organized by various British government organizations over the last seven years and the Play UK trip claims support from experienced mission leaders, a comprehensively promoted seminar event at the New Otani hotel in Tokyo and business to business meetings organized by local experts. Licensed content owners, original IP companies, developers, publishers and service companies wishing to sell or license technology, products or service are all encouraged to attend, as well as games companies looking to develop awareness of the social and economic environment for future expansion. The deadline for applications is December 1st, with further information available at the UKTI website.
