UK games distributors Gem and 20:20 have entered a legal battle over whether representatives from Gem had spread gossip that 20:20 were about to open up a chain of video game stores across the UK. 20:20 claims that Gem had been informing retailers of the, apparently untrue, rumors and has commenced a filing for 'Malicious Falsehood' against its distribution rival. 20:20’s parent company, the Caudwell Group, owns a number of retail chains including the Discovery Store and Phones4u and many others have previously speculated on whether the company might be considering a more direct move into games retail.
