Scotland-based University of Abertay Dundee has signed an agreement with Izmir University of Economics to offer Turkish students a master’s program in computer games. This is the first opportunity of its kind in Izmir, Turkey’s third largest city. Students who are accepted into the two-year program will spend their first semester at Izmir, and the following two semesters at Abertay, where they will write their dissertations. The final semester will be completed at IUE. The first group of 20 students will begin their terms at Abertay in January 2009. The number of placements in this program is expected to reach 50 within five years, according to a press release. Izmir University of Economics was established in 2001 under the auspices of the Izmir Chamber of Commerce. It is a private sector university with faculties of administrative sciences and economics, sciences and literature, fine arts and design, communications, and computer sciences.
