Officials from Japanese publisher and developer Square Enix have announced that Daishiro Okada has been promoted to president and COO of North American subsidiary Square Enix, Inc. Okada joined Japanese parent company Square Enix Co., Ltd. in January 2005, in the role of senior executive. Prior to joining Square Enix, he was representative director and COO for a Japanese technology company, and has also built a successful career as a banker at Deutsche Bank AG Group Japan and The Industrial Bank of Japan (currently Mizuho Financial Group). Okada has also been appointed as a member of the board of directors for Square Enix, Inc. as part of the company’s efforts to expand its business in the North American market. Current Square Enix, Inc. president and COO Ichiro Otobe will leave the American headquarters to assume new responsibilities at Square Enix Co., Ltd. "Mr. Okada is a seasoned executive who will be a key force in capturing the full potential of Square Enix’s abundant collection of high quality digital content,” said Yoichi Wada, president, Square Enix Co., Ltd. “With the landscape of the industry moving at an extremely quick pace, his extensive experience as corporate executive and rich background in both the technology and financial sectors will successfully lead our North American business."
