Spain's Gammick To Focus On DS, Indie Production

Officials from Gammick Entertainment have announced the launch of the company as a new video game production studio and developer based in Spain, with a focus on PC and Nintendo DS titles, and with titles including Shadows Of War already announced.

Officials from Gammick Entertainment have announced the launch of the company as a new video game production studio and developer in Spain, with a focus on PC and Nintendo DS titles and with several products already scheduled for release in the near future. Founded in April of this year, the company’s aim is to establish itself as the most important international producer in Spain. The production company is based in Barcelona, with claims of support from an unnamed backer described as “one of the top five communications groups in the world”. The new company with produce games for all formats, but with a particular focus on the PC and Nintendo DS. The first project will be World War II real-time strategy game named Shadows of War, by local developer Legend Studios. The game is scheduled for international release in the fourth quarter of 2007. The company also operates its own creative studio, named Gammick Studios, and - as part of an exclusive production deal with Spanish company Abylight - currently has three projects in development for the Nintendo DS. The first of these, named Smasher Z, will be released in 2009. “The Gammick vision is to create a video game production brand that brings together Spanish and international development enterprises emphasizing accessible gameplay and attractiveness to casual players,” said managing director Sergio Rincón. “It’s a really exciting challenge for us to create playable concepts that are easy to export and communicate, with fun and profitability as our basic premises.”
