In a bid to expand the potential uses for the Playstation 2, Sony will begin selling Linux and development for Linux programmers so that other applications might be developed for it.
The kits will go on sale in Japan in May for $188.30, and in the United Sates and Europe in June for $299. A 40GB hard drive, USB keyboard and mouse will be included in the Linux development kit. "Many Linux fans have requested that they would like to execute applications not only on personal computers but also on PlayStation game consoles," explained a Sony spokeswoman.
