Sony has now officially debuted Life With PlayStation, an "lifestyle service" absorbing the PlayStation 3's Folding@home application and enabling users to access live content, such as news headlines and information around the world. Along with Folding@home's existing functionality, the service hosts a Live Channel delivering news headlines provided by Google News and weather information provided by The Weather Channel. Additionally, the Live Channel offers cloud imagery provided by University of Wisconsin-Madison Space Science and Engineering Center and live camera images of nearly 60 cities around the world partially provided by The Earth Television Network. The PlayStation 3's distributed computing client, Folding@home, now supports more advanced simulation of protein fold, and will also support the system's Folding@home ranking system, which enables users to see where they stand among the worldwide contributors based on their level of contribution. Sony intends to release additional channels and interactive content for Life with PlayStation in the future.
