Sony Computer Entertainment Japan has announced a new PSP bundle featuring a bronze-colored system, while it also confirmed a launch date for the PSP's previously-delayed Skype service. The Skype service was originally delayed in Japan due to the failure of two microphone products to pass certification. SCEJ announced those two microphones will now be available on March 19th, while the Skype service will become available on PSP as part of a scheduled March 18th system software update. Meanwhile, the PSP "Matte Bronze Value Pack" will become available for a limited time on April 24th for ¥23,800 ($228), and will include a “Matte Bronze” PSP, a pouch, a hand strap, a cloth, a 32MB Memory Stick Duo, and a D Terminal AV cable. SCEJ says this bundle is aimed at those who want to play PSP content on their televisions. Finally, SCEJ also announced it would launch a “Cradle” for slim-and-light PSPs in Japan on April 24th. Retailing for ¥4,800 ($46), the cradle allows entertainment content on the PSP to be controlled with a remote, in addition to charging the battery. SCEJ will also sell a cradle bundled with a D Terminal AV Cable (including tax). A set of “Cradle & D Terminal AV Cable” for ¥6,500 ($62).
