Content delivery solutions developer Solid State Networks has announced an update, called Current, to its Solid Axis online game solution, adding patch delivery functionality. Solid Axis is a suite of peer-assisted delivery technology that aims to speed content updates and patches and reduce associated costs and downtime, and the company has previously discussed its intent to increase its focus on the games industry. The company recently announced it supported Acclaim's launch of the new 2Moons MMO, and it also provided its "Branded Client Solution" to Wizards of the Coast for Magic: The Gathering Online. Rick Buonincontri, founder and CEO of Solid State Networks, commented, “We know from listening to our customers that game updates and patches are critical and often costly functions of operating an online game. We designed our patch delivery solution to integrate easily with existing patch updating solutions. Furthermore, we are certain that Solid Axis Current will have a positive impact on their bottom line.”
