Tools company Alias has announced the latest release of its 3D character animation software MotionBuilder version 7, following last year's purchase of MotionBuilder creator Kaydara. This version’s features include new character extensions, visual feedback on rigs, and character manipulation enhancements. Productivity-enhancement features include new save and load character animation features, improved workflow and UI features such as save reminder and incremental versioning. Live Device Support enables multi-stream motion capture devices, data mapping and asset management integration. A realtime animation trigger system, Python scripting capabilities, and the Alias Open Reality SDK up the ante of this new release. While the Alias FBX file format is retained, the new version improves interactivity between other 3D applications. For instance, new constraints allow for easy transfer of animated character setups between MotionBuilder and Maya. Benefits of the Alias MotionBuilder Pro Platinum Membership include extended hotline access and improved response times. Platinum members can use an interactive web-based MotionBuilder 7 training call during September and October 2005.
