Copenhagen based serious games developer Serious Games Interactive has announced the release of its first major project, Global Conflicts: Palestine, which places players in the role of a freelance journalist covering the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Offering a mix of role-playing and adventure, the goal of the game, according to the developer, is to create and get an article published for a newspaper by collecting quotes from the in-game dialog. This can either be accomplished by building up trust with each side of the conflict or by taking “a more confrontational approach to dig out information.” Serious Games Interactive adds that players should be careful what they choose to print, as the resulting story “will affect your standings with both sides.” The subject of Global Conflicts: Palestine was discussed during a recent Serious Games Source interview with Serious Games Interactive's CEO Simon Egenfeldt-Nielsen, who noted that players “will find it hard to stay neutral and you are likely to be sucked into the conflict.” The game also offers a branching story line with different outcomes based on player choices. Global Conflicts: Palestine will be released on July 5, and will be available in English, German and Danish languages. The game will be available via download and mail from the Serious Games Interactive website, or from Manifesto Games, Gamers Gate, and the Mac game store.
