SCi officials have announced that the company has paid receivers Ernst & Young £2.36 million ($3.89m) to acquire the assets of developer Pivotal Games from parent company Kaboom Studios. The developers of Conflict: Desert Storm and The Great Escape – both of which have provided sales success for UK publisher SCi – are expected to continue unaffected, with no layoffs expected among the 70 staff at the company. The move is somewhat unusual for SCi management, who usually rely on third party developers, but was seen as necessary to keep the developer out of the hands of rival companies.
