Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) representatives have announced details of the PlayStation 2 Freedom Weekender events at theme parks Alton Towers and Thorpe Park, taking place between September 1st and 4th in the UK. The purely consumer events will feature special access to the various rides and attractions, as well as live music from bands such as Faithless, Feeder and Razorlight. At Thorpe Park special themed areas have also been organized for various games including a Sumo wrestling demonstration next to playable versions of God of War and Tekken 5. The event will also feature a Hawaiian themed area with sun loungers and hula hoop games; a number of SingStar karaoke booths; a PS2 “Freedom Barge” moored in the Thorpe Park lake; breakdancing demonstrations; the smallest disco in the world and giant pass the parcel. The Alton Towers event will feature similar displays, including the UK's longest zip wire, a customized ice cream van and a human jukebox live band. Themed demonstrations of games such as Gran Turismo 4, Moto GP 3 and Super Monkey Ball Deluxe are also planned. The twin events continue the tradition of the PlayStation Experience event, which was also held at Alton Towers in 2004, and formerly took place in London alongside the now-defunct ECTS trade show.
