After his company’s purchase of a majority stake in Sega on Monday, Sammy president Hajime Satomi has been making it clear the direction he feels the company should take. According to Satomi he wants Sega to concentrate on its higher profit arcade business and pick future console releases with “more care”. Satomi has also indicated that he wants the respected Japanese publisher to start using Sammy’s Atomiswave arcade technology and has suggested that if there is any resistance from existing Sega employees, then Sammy will simply purchase more shares - in order to force its point. Indeed, Satomi has also confirmed that several Sammy executives will be taking new roles at Sega itself, with he himself taking a “special advisor role” on the board of directors.
