Gamasutra's weekly column, "Saling The World", covers the top five sellers for every available platform in the United States, Japan, and Europe, providing an important update of sales patterns worldwide. This week's charts, with data taken from April 9th, 2009, find Pokemon Platinum and Wii Fit heading multiplatform sales numbers in the United States, while Oboro Muramasa and Sengoku Basara: Battle Heroes take the lead in Japan. Data for "Saling The World" comes courtesy of the public sales information on Amazon.com, Amazon.co.uk, and Amazon.co.jp, with sales split out for each platform and territory, and pre-orders disregarded. This results in a true sense of what games are selling worldwide on the real-time updated service, as follows: Nintendo Wii North America: 1. Wii Fit (Nintendo), 2. Mario Kart Wii (Nintendo), 3. My Fitness Coach (Ubisoft), 4. Wii Play (Nintendo), 5. Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga (LucasArts). Japan: 1. Oboro Muramasa (Marvelous), 2. Wii Fit (Nintendo), 3. Mario Kart Wii (Nintendo), 4. Wii de Asobu: Pikmin 2 (Nintendo), 5. Wii Sports (Nintendo). UK: 1. Wii Fit (Nintendo), 2. Wii Play (Nintendo), 3. My Fitness Coach (Ubisoft), 4. Rayman Raving Rabbids TV Party (Ubisoft), 5. Mirror's Edge (EA Games), 2. Guitar Hero: Metallica (Activision), 3. Resident Evil 5 (Capcom), 4. Star Ocean: The Last Hope (Square Enix), 5. Halo 3 (Microsoft). Guitar Hero: Metallica also sees a sales boost this week, pushing past Resident Evil 5 to take second place. Elsewhere, 5pb's adventure title 11eyes CrossOver continues to lead in Japan, as FIFA 09 outperforms all competition in Europe. PlayStation 3 North America: 1. MLB 09: The Show (SCEA), 2. Shadow of the Colossus makes an unexpected chart comeback at fourth place this week, as God of War finishes out the North American top five at fifth. PC North America: 1. Mirror's Edge (EA Games), 2. As was the case last week, Amazon-sponsored discounts again result in an unexpected winner in North America's PC sales chart. A price-dropped Mirror's Edge finishes first among U.S. PC software titles, as World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King moves up to take second. THQ's Company of Heroes: Tales of Valor debuts at the top of the charts in the UK, meanwhile, as Capcom's MMORPG Monster Hunter Frontier Online Season 5.0 finishes first in Japan. The title ranks sixth in this week's Nintendo DS software sales at Amazon. Pokemon Platinum pushes past Professor Layton to lead regional sales numbers for the week, as Mario Kart DS and New Super Mario Bros. trail close behind.
