Today's round-up includes an unexpected add-on for an old first-person shooter, a hunt for the best casual gamer in the world, initial details on the GDNet Toronto Mini-Conference, as well as today's product news and Gamasutra job postings. - The "lost" expansion to 3D Realms' Shadow Warrior, Wanton Destruction, has been unearthed by developer Sunstorm. The completed add-on was recently discovered by former Sunstorm president Anthony Campiti on a disc marked "Add-on Archive 1," and Campiti has worked out an agreement with 3D Realms to make the expansion publicly available. The add-on, which requires a registered version of Shadow Warrior, can be downloaded from the links at the bottom of the official announcement, and 3D Realms has discounted the original Shadow Warrior to $10 in honor of the occasion. - SkillJam has announced a million-dollar Skill Games World Championship to find "the best casual gamer in the world." The championship will cover three popular games, Solitaire, Zuma, and Bejeweled 2, and will culminate in a live event in Los Angeles for the $1 million grand prize. "SkillJam recognizes that casual gamers are a driving force in the game community by introducing the largest tournament of its kind," said SkillJam president Paul Jensen. "Gamers will compete for cash and prizes totaling more than $2 million simply by playing versions of their favorite skill-based games." - Toronto will host the GDNet Toronto Mini-Conference, an event geared toward independent developers and those attempting to work in the industry, on September 17. Industry representatives will speak at the event, giving their advice to prospective creators. The Mini-Conference will be held at the Casa Loma campus of George Brown College from 9:30 AM to 6:30 PM. Admission costs $25 CDN. - Also updated today: product news including Pixiem's adoption of the Tira Jump Wireless Suite, and the latest Gamasutra job postings, from companies including Factor 5 Software, Funcom Oslo, Midway Games, Sony Computer Entertainment America, Rockstar Vancouver, Surreal Software, and more.
