Take-Two Interactive division Rockstar Games has announced that it will release a version of its PlayStation 2 brawler The Warriors for the PSP. The game will ship this holiday season in both North America and Europe. The Warriors, in development by Rockstar Leeds in conjunction with Rockstar Toronto, is based upon the 1979 cult classic Paramount Pictures film of the same name, and expands upon the events of the film. "We set out to create a highly sophisticated portable game that delivers a visceral experience previously unseen on the PSP system," stated Sam Houser, founder and executive producer of Rockstar Games. "We are looking forward to setting the definitive bar for the brawler genre on the PSP system by delivering an extremely stylish and exceptionally deep experience." Formerly known as Mobius Entertainment, Rockstar Leeds has been primarily responsible for handheld versions of many of Rockstar's popular franchises, including the Gameboy Advance version of Max Payne, as well as the more recent Midnight Club and Grand Theft Auto 'Stories' iterations on PSP. Rockstar Leeds president Gordon Hall added, "We have worked closely with Rockstar Toronto to maintain the extremely high standards they've set for this game. The PSP system allows us to deliver the experience in an entirely different way, while staying very faithful to the original source material and maintaining the high standards we set for ourselves as a developer."
