ResPower, which claims to be the first and only automated Internet render farm, has just gone live with its service. ResPower lets you offload rendering jobs for Maya and Lightwave (3ds max support is planned) to the ResPower workstations, spooling the job to ResPower processors as if they were network printers. You can either pay as you go (per job), or you can sign up for ongoing service, in which the company provides you with a virtual private network so that your rendering jobs can be more easily automated. The company, based in Huntsville, Alabama, also offers a dedicated render farm option, whereby you supply the workstations and Respower maintains them. When you're not using them, you earn a percentage of the usage fees from others who are rendering with them. And whenever you want to render on your dedicated computers, all other render jobs are bumped to other servers. Standard rendering pricing are as follows: -Lightwave: $0.50/GHz hour -Maya: $0.75/GHz hour -Other: $1.00/GHz hour
