ATI Technologies announced that it is now shipping the Radeon 9800 Pro, and that boards based on it will be hitting store shelves within the next week. The chip, launched March 6, is the only visual processor to run at full speed and full precision all of the time, according to the company. The Radeon 9800 Pro supports the following: -Up to 256MB of DDR memory -256-bit memory interface -8-pixel pipeline architecture -ATI's Smartshader 2.1 technology which supports DirectX 9.0 -128-bit floating point precision Radeon 9800 Pro boards will be available in two configurations: Radeon 9800 Pro 128MB and Radeon 9800 Pro 256MB. Pricing was not disclosed.
