German-headquartered 3D game engine firm Trinigy has announced that it will showcase its upcoming Vision Engine 6, based on next-generation DirectX technology at this year’s Games Convention in Leipzig/Germany. In addition, the company also revealed that it has issued several new licensees of its Vision Game Engine, though it has not revealed which companies specifically were included in these new agreements. Trinigy did indicate that the new licenses will be used in developing sports, simulation, and MMO style games within the three regions. New in Vision 6 is a newly developed DirectX-based graphics engine that also paves the way for Microsoft Vista. The new rendering subsystem is a high-performance technology that provides a wide range of next-gen graphical features out of the box, such as parallax mapping, dynamic soft shadows and high dynamic range rendering (HDR). Trinigy’s new flagship technology and its components have also been designed with modularity and easy accessibility in mind. Finally, the upcoming Vision version 6's SDK development environment maintains the philosophy of WYSIWYG game production: Interactive particle and landscape editing, streaming terrains for MMO applications, exporter plugins for 3DS Max 9 and Maya 8 as well as a binding to AGEIA’s PhysX technology are selected examples for the new workflow features.
