Microsoft has announced the latest version of the DirectX SDK, available for immediate download. The new SDK can be found at the official WGGTT site. The update includes several additions and new features, such as a Direct3D 10 Technology Preview for Windows Vista Beta2; an update to the Microsoft Cross-Platform Audio Creation Tool (XACT); and an update to Performance Investigator for DirectX (PIX). It is also noted that the D3DX9 library has not been updated in this release, and that the DLL remains unchanged from what was included with the DirectX April 2006 SDK release. It is indicated, however, that additional updates will be included in future releases. Other updates found within this release include HLSL shader compilation improvements, new SoftParticles samples, and additional pipeline and parameter validation within the Direct3D 10 Debug Layer.
