Chicago headquartered virtual world developer Interzone Games has announced that it has selected the BigWorld Technology Suite as its development platform for an upcoming unspecified MMO title. The BigWorld Technology Suite is an integrated set of tools, software and systems that provides the underlying technology and content development tools required to produce an MMOG or persistent casual game. The software aims to provide operators and studios with a lower total time-to-build and cost of ownership. In addition, the BigWorld Server architecture allows operators to run several games on a single server cluster, reducing the cost of running the game, while the Content Creation Pipeline reduces the time and cost of building and filling out the complex worlds required in next-generation games. Interzone Entertainment COO, Robert Spencer commented, “BigWorld is clearly leading the field, with a proven technology and tools solution that allows us to hit the ground running. With the BigWorld Technology already in place, we are free to concentrate on what we do best, develop compelling worlds with innovative and exciting gameplay.” BigWorld's director of business development Gavin Longhurst added: “Interzone is a unique brand that is trying to accomplish something genuinely different in the online space. Our integrated approach provides them all the tools required to get a game, complete with a server and related online components, built in and train in a very short period of time, leaving more time to polish content and game play.”
