Cambridge, UK-based Geomerics, a technology development company that targets video game developers with its expertise and specialized research into geometric algebra, has announced that the company has joined Epic Games’ Integrated Partners Program for Unreal Engine 3. As part of this new announcement, Geomerics' dynamic lighting solution Enlighten has been integrated into Unreal Engine 3. According to Geomerics, Enlighten alters the way lighting is handled in games by allowing more dynamic lighting effects to be computed at run time. Epic Games' Integrated Partners Program establishes a formal business relationship between the game and middleware developer and select companies developing cross-platform technologies which integrate with, and are complementary to, Unreal Engine 3. As part of the program, Epic provides continuous Unreal Engine 3 source code access and full technical support to program members. In addition, those companies that join Epic's partnership program agree to provide a high level of technical support for Unreal Engine 3 licensees through Epic’s established support channels, as well as keep implementations up-to-date with the latest software versions, and work with Epic on potential promotional and co-marketing efforts. “It is great to have Geomerics on board for the Integrated Partners Program.” said Mark Rein, vice president or Epic Games. “We look forward to seeing how their customers take advantage of the integration between their lighting technology and Unreal Engine 3”.
