Network middleware provider, Dublin-headquartered DemonWare has announced that the company worked with Activision and developer Treyarch to drive the online multiplayer component of the recently shipped World War II themed first-person shooter, Call of Duty 3. DemonWare and Activision have previously worked together on Call of Duty 2: Big Red One and World Series of Poker: Tournament of Champions. The company's clients also include other major publishers and developers such as Sega, Ubisoft, THQ, Empire, Atari, and Codemasters. DemonWare is best known for its Matchmaking+ and Netcode development suites. Current DemonWare technologies include peer-to-peer and client server support, NAT/Firewall traversal, voice communication, and the ability to integrate features at the beginning or end of software development. “DemonWare’s middleware solution provided the foundation for us to think big with multiplayer and continue to push the boundaries of online gameplay,” commented Activision's Marcus Iremonger, who serves as the executive producer for Call of Duty 3.
