Representatives from Kynogon, makers of AI middleware solution Kynapse, have announced a new “long term relationship” with Copenhagen based Deadline Games (Total Overdose, Chili Con Carnage) that will see Kynapse used as the AI solution within the latest version of the developer's Kapow game engine. Kynogon develops and markets A.I. software for real-time behavior simulation. With Kynapse, non-player characters can move around in a 3D dynamic world, understand their environment, hide, communicate, cooperate, and interact with objects. The company's A.I. technology is currently used by a number of noted game developers. The technology was recently enlisted by Bethesda Softworks and Zombie Studios for the upcoming tactical first-person shooter Rogue Warrior, and Larian Studios (Divinity series) announced in December that Kynapse will serve as the AI solution for an as yet unannounced role-playing game. “We were looking for a solution for AI for inclusion into the second generation of our Kapow engine that will form the basis of our production for all of our next gen titles,” commented Deadline Games production manager Per Kyed Laursen. “We found that the combination of functionalities and tools, the quality and responsiveness of the technical support, the overall performance and hardware acceleration for next gen platforms made Kynapse the obvious choice for our AI needs.”
